I am a native speaker from Paraguay and have been teaching conversational Spanish for over thirty years, twenty of these in the United States. I began teaching Spanish as a second language to Peace Corps volunteers, American businessmen and missionaries in Paraguay.

When my husband and I moved to Boulder, Colorado, I worked for K-Mart in order to learn English and be part of the American culture. Later, I taught Spanish at the University of Colorado while earning my degree in Spanish literature. At the advice of my students I opened Empanadas Plus on Boulder’s Pearl Street mall where I enjoyed many years of success.

In 2008 I became an American citizen and proudly cast my first vote for President.

Today I am honored to be able to use all my past experiences to share my language and culture with a community I have come to call home.
